Wooden Trays

Wooden TV Trays

As the television became a standard household item in the 1950’s, the TV tray table followed suit. The 1950’s gave birth to popular television sitcoms like “I Love Lucy” which made its début in 1951. As such sitcoms grew in popularity; most families chose to eat their meals in front of the television on TV tray tables instead of at the family kitchen table.

Wooden TV Tray Tables

Wooden TV tray stands are both durable and beautiful. Whether your preference lies with light wood tones, or dark rich wood tones, wooden TV tray tables are manufactured in a color to fit your style. Design is important when it comes to TV tray stands because today they are used for more than just the occasional TV dinner. Wooden TV tray stands have an extremely high quality smooth finish and the quality continues with their heavy wood construction so they won’t wobble a bit. The neutral coloring means wooden TV stands will go with any décor. Most wooden trays come already assembled and ready to use.

Function

Because the expectations of TV tray tables today are different than those of the 1950’s it is important to find a set of tables that will stand up to any challenge. Originally a TV tray table was expected to hold nothing more than a plate, some utensils and a drink. Today these tables are commonly used as make shift laptop desks, craft tables, and even sewing machine stands! Perhaps this is why the durable wooden TV stands are so popular today. When using a TV tray table or stand to support a sewing machine you want something that won’t wobble. Today’s wooden TV tables have stood to the challenge of taking on more functions in your everyday life and are a must have for any household.

Design

The original, popular models consisted of two pieces: a metal tray with grips mounted on its underside, and a set of tubular metal legs with rubberized tips at the bottom. The grips snapped on to the legs, which could be spread out to support the tray stands, or folded for storage. While in storage, the tray remained clipped to one leg support. While the original design was functional and easy to operate, styles have changed over the years. Today TV tray tables are often manufactured using durable wooden and metal materials. While modern wooden designs are manufactured today, the original tray stand design is still very popular in “retro” inspired design
